WTA - Le tournoi de New Haven disparaît du calendrier

Voilà une information qui suscite un certain émoi aux Etats-Unis : le tournoi féminin de New Haven, traditionnellement organisé juste avant l'US Open, va disparaître du calendrier. Personne ne succédera donc à Aryna Sabalenka, victorieuse en août dernier de la 21e édition. Le tournoi, dont "le modèle économique devenait non-viable sans sponsor titre" a été vendu à la société APG, qui va organiser un Premier tournament du 9 au 15 septembre en Chine, à Zhengzhou City, où un prize money de 1 millions de $ sera offert. La WTA assure effectuer les démarches pour trouver un endroit susceptible d'accueillir une épreuve aux Etats-Unis fin août. Dans un tweet, Simona Halep s'est émue de cette nouvelle. "J'y avais remporté mon premier tournoi Premier", dit-elle. Exact, en 2013.
