Tennis. WTA - Cincinnati - Maja Chwalinska décroche sa 1ère victoire depuis Roland-Garros

Après plusieurs semaines d’arrêt liées à une blessure contractée à Wimbledon, Maja Chwalinska a signé un retour convaincant au WTA 1000 de Cincinnati. La Polonaise, actuellement 23e mondiale, a dominé l’Espagnole Cristina Bucsa en deux manches maîtrisées, 6-2, 6-2. Cette victoire met fin à une période sans succès depuis son parcours exceptionnel à Roland-Garros. À Paris, Chwalinska avait atteint la finale après être sortie des qualifications.

Maja gets her first win since Roland Garros, where she reaches the final as a qualifier.
She got injured at Wimbledon & took a month off after the grass swing to recover.

Amanda Anisimova et Alexandra Eala seront également au rendez-vous du troisième tour. L'Américaine a dompté Zeynep Sonmez 6-2, 6-3 tandis que la Philippine a profité de l'abandon de Gabriela Ruse alors qu'elle menait 6-1, 3-0. Elles s'affronteront pour une place en huitièmes.
